The Reality of X/Twitter Shadowbans and the Pivot to Meta
In previous articles, we suggested a sophisticated “14-day exit strategy” to overcome what we believed was an initial “sandbox” period for new accounts on X (formerly Twitter).
We must be clear: we were too optimistic. The reality is much harsher.
The Ruthless Reality of X’s Algorithms
If you create an X account from scratch and, within a few weeks, connect it to the official API to automate the hourly posting of an AI Virtual Influencer, you will be hit by a permanent shadowban in 99% of cases.
The posts will exist, but no one will see them. Your account’s trust score will be zeroed out before you even begin. To successfully use X, you would be forced to endure months of exclusively manual interactions (replies, retweets, likes) pretending to be a human user, with no guarantee that activating automation won’t trigger an irreversible ban anyway.
X has become an extremely hostile environment for independent developers and benign bots.
The Meta Paradigm: A Permissive and Structured Approach
This realization pushed us to deeply test the integration of Meta (Instagram, Facebook, and Threads). What we discovered changed Zirelia’s entire architecture.
Forget sudden bans and punitive “sandboxes.” Meta uses a radically different trust model based on your real identity:
- The Trust Bridge: If you create a Developer App on the Meta Developer Portal and link it to your real and historical private Facebook profile, Meta inherits the “trust score” of your real self.
- Immediate Access: You don’t need weeks of warmup. You can create a new Facebook Page and a Professional Instagram Account for your Virtual Influencer and start using Zirelia’s Celery scheduler from Day 1.
- Free and Powerful APIs: Unlike X’s exorbitant access tiers, Meta’s Graph API for publishing multimedia content is free, well-documented, and highly accessible.
The New Core of Zirelia
Because of this stark discrepancy, zirelia.github.io is now a Meta-First ecosystem.
Do we still support Twitter/X in the code? Yes, and it is fully functional. But we strongly advise against it unless you possess a Twitter account aged at least 3 years with a solid human history behind it.
For all new users who wish to launch their Virtual Influencer today, the direction is clear: aim for Instagram and Facebook. In the next post, we’ll explore how to set up the Developer App on Meta and how to obtain the crucial Permanent Page Access Token to automate Sienna Fox forever.
