The Secret to Meta Tokens: Avoiding API Blocks

We’ve established that Meta is the natural home for Zirelia. The barrier to entry isn’t shadowban algorithms, but rather navigating the daunting Meta Developer Portal. Often, AI accounts fail before even sending their very first v26.0 API request due to Tokens vanishing into thin air.

Here is how to tame the Graph API and ensure Zirelia publishes 24/7, without continuous manual refreshing.

The “Business Verification” Trap

As soon as you create your App in the Developer portal, you might encounter alarming red banners requesting corporate documents or tax IDs for Business Verification.

Ignore them completely. You don’t need them.

As long as you keep the App in “Development” status and only grant access to YOUR private accounts (your linked Instagram and your Facebook Page), you will enjoy the same unlimited permissions without verifying any business entity.

Why Does the ‘Page Dropdown’ Keep Resetting?

The number one technical issue the community encounters in the Graph API Explorer is the inability to generate a Page Token; the dropdown menu perpetually resets to “User Token,” or worse, the me/accounts endpoint returns an empty array [].

This is a permission bug/misconfiguration. The definitive 3-Step Solution:

  1. Revoke the App’s access from the “Business Integrations” settings on your Personal FB Profile.
  2. Click “Generate Token” again in the Graph Explorer and, crucially, in the Facebook authorization popup window explicitly click on “Edit previous access”. Manually select your New AI Page and the associated Instagram Profile.
  3. Select all the necessary permissions: instagram_basic, instagram_content_publish, pages_manage_posts, etc.

The Permanent Access Token

By default, user tokens expire after 1 hour, and if extended in the tool, they last 60 days. An autonomous AI cannot stop every 60 days. You need the Permanent Page Access Token:

  1. Take the 60-day Token.
  2. Paste it into the “Access Token” field of the Graph Explorer.
  3. Execute the GET query for the me/accounts endpoint.
  4. The very long alphanumeric string you’ll find alongside the name of your Facebook Page in the JSON output is the Holy Grail: it is everlasting.

Copy this string. It will forever be the META_ACCESS_TOKEN variable in the .env file on your Raspberry Pi.

Final Result: Your Cron/Celery is now certified for life, provided you don’t deliberately change your personal Facebook profile password. Zirelia can now post at 4 AM, completely untethered from human directives.
